Inventor Turned Up Energy Savings by Dimming the Lights

The New York Times building, which opened in 2007, uses a Lutron system that balances natural and electric light to save energy—and money. Below, the original Capri (circa 1964), the light dimmer designed by Joel Spira, was donated to the National Museum of American History in April 2010.
