Over-familiarity with the work of Claude Monet has robbed it of much of its potency. Now, a new Paris exhibition is looking to recall the dazzling storm the artist caused nearly 150 years ago.

Consisting of nearly 160 oil paintings, on loan from as far afield as America and Australia, as well as Europe, it is billed as the most important exhibition of the artist’s work for three decades, and offers a cornucopia of Monet’s masterpieces. There are pictures from almost every phase of his career, which lasted from the early 1860s until his death in 1926.
